Kurosawa once made a short film where a nuclear plant had exploded, sending the populace into dismay. The scientists had coloured the radiation particles and atoms so that they appeared as different coloured gasses.

People flocked in horror from the red mist and those who were not killed in the ensuing panic, realized that the radiation would kill them anyway - Be thankful that at least you won't see it.
